What are the proper steps to set up the Tomcat service account for Web Platform?
Symptom
How to configure 360Suite Web Platform to use a Windows domain service account to run the 360Suite Windows Service, if it is not an Administrator on the server, i.e. the Tomcat user?
Environment
- 360Suite Web Platform
Cause
The issue is related to:
- the user's permissions on the the 360Suite Web Platform directory on the server and,
- the user's permissions for the Windows registry key that starts the Tomcat server
- the user's permissions on the the 360Suite Web Platform directory on the server and,
- the user's permissions for the Windows registry key that starts the Tomcat server
Resolution
1) Assign the Tomcat user permission to "Read" and "Write" on the Tomcat folder and its subfolders located under the 360Suite424 directory, i.e. C:\Program Files (x86)\360.suite424
2) Assign the Tomcat user permission to the 'Log on as a service' group policy.
3) Start regedit and navigate to registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\JavaSoft\Prefs\com\gbs. Assign the Tomcat user permission "Full control" to the registry key
4) Restart the Tomcat service after the changes.
